Why it Pays to Purchase Beauty Supplies from a Professional Salon

December 13th, 2011

If you have ever wondered why it pays to purchase beauty supplies such as shampoo, conditioner, hair gel and hairspray from a professional salon versus beauty supply stores you are not alone. Many consumers who purchase beauty supplies from a professional salon often wonder if they are making the right choice by spending a little more on beauty products they buy directly from a professional salon versus buying products at beauty supply stores. Although the answer may not be obvious to most, buying beauty products directly from a professional hair salon is actually worth its weight in gold and actually leads to greater savings and pays off in the long run because of the following reasons.

1) Guarantee of Authenticity

Buying beauty supplies from a professional salon makes sense because only a professional salon can guarantee the authenticity of the beauty products they sell. When a consumer buys beauty supplies and products from a salon they know they are getting what they are paying for because beauty salons often have exclusive contracts with the manufacturer, where beauty supply stores do not. In addition, beauty supply stores often cannot guarantee authenticity.

2) Beauty Product Recommendations from Licensed Beauticians

It also pays to buy from a professional salon because consumers who purchase products from professional salons have an advantage over consumers who buy from beauty supply stores, supermarkets or pharmacies. In a matter of moments, consumers can receive personalized recommendations from licensed professionals as to which beauty products to use and how to use them to best suit their needs. In most cases, consumers don’t need to even schedule an appointment to ask for recommendations. This benefit alone makes purchasing products such as shampoo, conditioner, hairspray, hair gel and other hair products from a professional salon worthwhile.

3) Salon-Style Results at Home

In addition to professional recommendations, purchasing beauty supplies directly from a salon also makes sense because professional beauty products help consumers take care of their hair on their own and achieve salon-style results at home. Consumers who do their own hair at home between hairstyling appointments can save a tremendous amount of money. This is another huge benefit that makes purchasing beauty products from a professional salon well worth the price.

4) Salon Strength Formulas

One of the biggest advantages of buying beauty products from a salon is that clients know that they are buying authentic, salon-strength products manufactured by the manufacturer. Quite often beauty products consumers buy from salons are salon-strength formulas only to be sold by licensed professionals. Many products are not available for purchase from beauty supply stores. Direct access to these salon-strength formulas is another great benefit of purchasing beauty products from a salon.

5) Access to Beauty Products Not Available to the Public

Last but not least, one of the main reasons consumers should purchase beauty supplies and products directly from a salon versus buying beauty supplies and products from beauty supply stores is because professional salons often sell beauty products not available to the public. Many salons import their hair care products directly from countries like Italy, like Mylissa’s Little Gallery does. Our products that you can purchase directly from our Chicago salon come from Framesi hair care products manufactured in Milan, Italy. These products are only available for purchase from a professional salon and not available in beauty supply stores.

November 7th, 2011

Hello I’m Mylissa Genaro from Mylissa’s Little Gallery. We’re locate in downtown Chicago in the loop at fifty-five East Washington Suite number eight thirty three.

I’m here today to talk to you about common questions about our Global Keratin treatment. Another question is, “can I work-out during that time?” and we recommend not working out during that time because salt is that the enemy to the Keratin. So, what will end up happening if you sweat let too much, is the salt starts to eat eat away at the Keratin and you’re Keratin treatment won’t last as long. So, a full forty-eight hours and no working out.

Chicago Salon – Are all Keratin Treatments the same?

October 25th, 2011

Hello, my name Mylissa Genaro from Mylissa’s Little Gallery. We’re located downtown Chicago at 55 E Washington Suite # 833.

I’m here today to talk about Keratin treatments. Now these treatments have hit the market like a plague, it’s horrible, but we do need them. A lot goes back to taking care of your hair and the hair care that goes along with it. I believe women were not educated on their hair so they were using things like thermal flat irons, blow-dryers without protecting their hair from those heat elements. So what’s happening is your protein gets stripped out of the hair shaft and your hair becomes frizzy brittle and unmanageable. On top of that they were coloring it and their color isn’t always the best color quality. So what ends up happening is that color takes more protein out, your hair gets frizzier, more unmanageable and you are completely aggravated because you cannot tame your hair yourself.

“Keratin treatments have hit the market, are they all the same?” is a common question that my clients ask. “No they are not.” The FDA cracked down on many of them because they had formaldehyde in them. Even the ones that said they had no formaldehyde in them, they were using formalin. Which is a form of formaldehyde. Which is still horrible for the client and bad for the stylist, but it was straightening out the hair and making it silky smooth.

I use a product called Global Keratin. GK Hair was formulated completely formaldehyde free. We have the patent on Juvexin. Juvexin in a keratin protein from sheep’s wool from New Zealand. What that does, is we have it in our product at it’s raw form. We haven’t tampered with it, hydrolyzed it, spun it with heat, we haven’t done anything to it. So at it’s raw form we get the best quality of ingredient in our product and don’t have to add the formaldehyde to it. So when you’re researching and looking for a keratin treatment, you should make sure it is Global Keratin, because we are formaldehyde free and I believe the best on the market. It’s what we use, Juvexin is great. Our hair care that goes along with it, shampoo and conditioner, also have Juvexin in it. And sometimes I prescribe those shampoos and conditioners for clients that don’t even have a keratin treatment in their hair, because the Juvexin just helps repair the hair. It’s sulfate free, paraben free. It’s over-all a high-quality great shampoo and conditioner to use.

Thank you for watching, and I hope you found this information useful. If you’d like to get a Keratin treatment, come on down to Mylissa’s Little Gallery, and we’ll give you the best treatment.

The Benefits of Using Tape Hair Extensions

October 17th, 2011

Hair extensions have been popular for years. They are an easy way to add extra length and body to your hair. A hair extension may be made from real human hair, synthetic hair, animal hair or a combination of any of the three. Hair extensions come in just about any color, texture or length you can imagine.

Tape Hair Extensions

Tape hair extensions are the latest innovation in hair extensions. The benefits of tape extensions are clear when compared to other types of extensions. When considering any type of hair extensions, it is important to consider extensions that will work with any style. Each type of extensions has its advantages and disadvantages. However, when comparing the different types of extensions, it quickly becomes clear why tape hair extensions are the best choice.

Hair Extensions: The Basics

Hair extensions are held in place on the parting of a small section of the individual’s own hair criss-crossed over the hair extension. The real and artificial hair is held together through various methods to appear as part of the natural hair. Most extensions, if applied correctly, may last for up to four months.

Heat-Free Protein Bonds

This method will last longer and combines other techniques. The bond consists mostly of keratin, the name for hair. They can be customized to fit. These bonds tend to work better on fine hair. They may cause bumps that can be seen or felt.

Classic Bonded Extensions

These extensions come in different sizes and can be mixed in with the natural pattern of your hair. A tiny iron is used to melt the bond for these extensions as they rest against your hair. They are generally safe for most textures and any hair color. Removal requires application of a solvent. Accidentally touching the bond with heat can cause it to melt.

Microtubes

These extensions are threaded into your hair with an extension inserted into a tube that is then flattened to hold the two pieces together. These extensions work best with black or brown hair that is straight or wavy. Hair of medium texture will have the best results. Removal is easy with the tubes popped back into their original shape.

Shrink-tube-Extensions

Two extensions are placed in a single tube. These extensions are best for thicker or curly hair. Roots must be strong enough to support the tubes which are collapsed to hold the extension in place. The tube is restored to its normal state for removal.

Swing Wefts

This type of hair extension can be applied quickly. They are designed to swing naturally with the hair. They need to be maintained and tightened. They do not work well with blended hair.

Temporary Extensions

A hair extension of this type is made of natural hair. They can be easily clipped into the hair and easily removed. They may not stay in place with certain styles though and are not as durable as other extensions.

Taped Wefts

Ultra-thin strips of hair are applied using an iron and tape. This hair extension works best with fine hair because they lay flat against the scalp. They are best with naturally long and thin hair. Different colors can be combined and layered without noticeable streaks.

Sewn-In Wefts

This hair extension, also know as weave, is probably the most well-known of the various types of extensions. While effective, these extensions are time-consuming to apply and may be painful for those not used to them when applied the first time. They can be re-used but difficult to combine with layered looks. They need to be maintained on a regular basis.

Strand-by-strand

This method uses special polymers (Keratin Gold Bond) pre-attached to small groups of hair to form a strand. The hair used in these custom hair extensions is usually 100 percent human hair, and it can be used on most hair types. Keratin Gold Bond is melted and the hair is dipped and then wrapped. These extensions work best for adding length to and filling out trouble spots. Strand-by-strand extensions should be maintained twice a month by your stylist, and they can last up to 3 months.

Why It Makes Sense To Choose Tape Hair Extensions

• Work with just about any hair type
• Easy to apply and remove
• May last up to six weeks or longer
• Takes only 60 minutes to apply a full head of tape hair extensions
• Extremely durable

Tape hair extensions may last for up to six weeks or longer depending on the quality of hair used. Tape hair extensions are applied closely to the scalp and roots of your natural hair and covered by another lay of your own hair. The result is a natural look that is durable and holds up to just about any hairstyle.

Chicago Salon – Do you have to use bleach for highlights?

October 11th, 2011

Hello my name is Mylissa Genaro from Mylissa’s Little Gallery. We’re located in the loop downtown Chicago fifty-five east Washington Suite number eight thirty-three.

I’m here to talk to you today about common questions that my clients ask when they come to see. One of them is, “Do we have to use bleach for highlights?” and the answer is, “No, we do not.” There’s actually two answers to that. If you have no color on your hair.. if your hair is not previously colored we do not have to use bleach. We can use one of our colors or a high-lift blonde to really breakthrough your natural color. If you do have color on your ends, then we do need to use bleach.

If you use the high-end, high-quality color like we do, framesi from Milan, we have conditioning coconut cream oil in everything so our lighteners are very gentle on the hair. We customize all of our colors and cut techniques and taylor them to our clients and their needs. So with the conditioning coconut cream oil they are less abrasive and less damaging for the hair.
